Mission:
Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh--MTAP--exists to foster collaboration between musical theatre artists in the Pittsburgh region, and to create opportunities for the development, presentation, and production of new musical theatre.
Vision:
Fostering collaboration by reaching out to all Pittsburgh-area musical theatre artists, bringing them together for monthly meetings, and providing a venue to share material in a safe environment, try out different partnerships, and build a community.
Creating opportunities for:
Development through hosting and helping to fund private readings, arranging space for and helping to fund workshops, presenting guest speakers, providing critiques from musical theatre professionals, creating forums for audience feedback, and providing access to arrangers, choreographers, designers, directors and other artists to help guide projects toward fruition.
Presentation through hosting and helping to fund public and industry readings, helping to fund demo recordings, creating relationships with local graphic designers and marketers to fulfill branding needs, and presenting regular showcases of material produced by group members.
Production through establishing ongoing relationships with individual theatres and producers, helping to fund productions, and developing ties with literary agents and producing organizations.
