HOT METAL SHORTS! THE 10-MINUTE MUSICALS
played to full or nearly full houses July 30-31, 2022, at City Theatre's Lillie Theatre, 1300 Bingham St. Pittsburgh 15203. The program began during the early stages of the pandemic with the formation of collaborative teams of bookwriters, lyricists and composers to work online in creating new short musicals. Fifteen artists ultimately came up with six new short musicals to share with the public. HOT METAL SHORTS! MTAP is a collective of artists working to develop new musical theatre, from 10-minute pieces to full-length works. The members are either creators of new work, such as librettists, composers, and lyricists, or play some other role in the development of new work. Monthly meetings are held to encourage, challenge, and support individual voices and to promote the development of the stories artists want to tell.
